The extreme weather we experience in north Texas can do a number on your roof. Getting a new roof, due to recent storm damage or accumulated damage from years of exposure can be as simple as getting your roof inspected by a local roofing contractor, which will most likely perform a free roof home inspection and provide you a quote. If it is determined a new roof is needed, your insurance is notified to send an adjuster to evaluate and begin your claim.
Just one big variable, you have solar panels installed on your roof! What do you do now?
First step is to talk to your roofing company to insure they have a Solar sub-contractor they work with. Make sure that the solar subcontractor they are hiring is state licensed, certified and experienced with your type of system. Before anyone touches your system make sure, they take the proper steps to inspect and test it before it is decommission and detached. After your roof has been replaced the same solar subcontractor will reset and recommission your system, verify immediately that it was done properly.
Your insurance claim will cover the cost of hiring a licensed solar contractor, its up to your roofing contractor to insure they hire the correct company to complete the your job and not void your warranty.
